Operation Concrete

"So another week begins and another week of National Novel Writing Month. I was thinking over the weekend why exactly I'm doing NaNoWriMo, which is an interesting question really. I think there's a couple of sides to it. Principally; the challenge. Having just completed my first novel I have been thinking about NaNoWriMo for a while, and how it's taken me about 9 months to write the 75,000 words of the first novel, and to get to 50,000 in a month seem like an excellent challenge to be getting on with. So that's probably the first reason.

The second reason is again, to do with my first novel in that I need a break from it. So, I finished the early version which you can download here, and now I need a break. I need a couple of months with my eyes off it and to be able to come back to it in January with a fresh set. There are all the revisions and rewrites that I need to do to to bring it to a good enough standard to be able to push to publishers. And of course there's the ever present need to be writing, all the time. So there's a couple of reasons.

scaryNow progress in terms of the book, not much over the weekend, at least not as much as I was hoping. I'm a little bit behind schedule but I'm sure I can pick up in the next 3 more weeks, and hopefully I'll be able to get to the 50,000 word limit. I basically finished Chapter 3 which puts me on almost 13000 words, and the next chapter is gonna be a particularly interesting one as well. More characters introduced and more storey line introduced. So, more vampires and ghosts and marines and general ace stuff, and there's times in chapter 4 when I might introduce the zombies as well. So, this is where it starts to get really interesting for humanity. Lots of problems. The shit is about to hit the fan, so to speak."

Spoken through SpinVox

ps - spinvox wrote 'vampies' as 'thumb pies' which I love. I want to see if I can make it do an exclamation mark. Maybe tomorrow.
